PLAYSTATION fans believe that the first images of the next console have appeared online.
Rumours about the next PlayStation console have run rampant, with the belief that a mid-generation console is on the way.
Signs point to a PS5 Slim, which was revealed to be in the works by Xbox during a recent court trial.
Xbox claimed that the mid-generation model will be launched this year, but PlayStation has not announced it yet.
Recently, an image appeared on social media showing what is believed to be a case for the upcoming console.
While nothing has been verified by Sony, there are a number of rumours surrounding a mid-gen console change.

There have been talks about the PS5 Slim model coming with a detachable disc drive.
Currently, there are two PS5 models on the market, a digital-only console, and the standard version which contains a disc drive.
The detachable disc drive will reportedly work with the digital-only console, offering those owners the chance to upgrade for cheaper.
In the images that have surfaced there is a black bar around the centre of the console.

This appears to be where the disc drive joins the console as you can see the case bulging from this point.
Overall, it looks very similar to the PS5 variants that are currently available, with a white case and a black centre.
It is much slimmer than the standard PS5, as the name PS5 Slim suggests, which is a much needed upgrade for the PS5.
The disc-based PS5 weighs 4.2kg, and it takes up a huge amount of storage space in your lounge.
