Limescale build up can be tricky to remove if you don’t know what to use. The hard, chalky deposit often builds up around shower heads, plug holes, tiles and taps. Sometimes it can even build up around other stainless steel items in the bathroom.

So how can you get rid of limescale build up in the bathroom?

Fans of cleaning sensation Mrs Hinch have revealed their favourite “2p trick”.

Mrs Hinch, also known as Sophie Hinchliffe, is a cleaning influencer who has over four million followers on Instagram.

Her tips have been so popular that fans have even decided to create social media groups dedicated to cleaning tips and hacks.

Last night, one fellow cleaning enthusiast asked on one of the groups: “I clean my ensuite weekly top to bottom and still have limescale/scum in small intricate areas!

“Hit me with your best solutions to clean. I’ve tried a toothbrush with a few cleaning products but not made much difference?”

The most was inundated with a plethora of comments from cleaning fans.

Most members of the group recommended using a two pence coin.

“Have you done the 2p trick ? This always works well,” said one user.

Another user said: “2p and warm water.”

Another commented: “A two pence piece!

“Rub it on the lime scale and it will come off.

“I saw it – tried it and was amazed.”

One user replied: “A 2p coin and water. Sounds daft but it’s the only thing I’ve found that works! And it’s free.”

A fellow Mrs Hinch fan explained how the “2p trick” works.

They said: “Rub it against the lime scale, it’s brilliant.

“I’ve used on taps, toilets and draining boards – just warm water then rub.”

However, other users had their own suggestions for removing limescale build up.

“Viakal leave on 10/15 mins then wipe off may need repeating”, said one user.

Another user recommended soaking kitchen roll in white vinegar and leaving it on the limescale.

They added: “It just wiped away, I couldn’t believe it.”

Other recommendations induced HG Professional Limescale Remover, Kilrock limescale removing gel and Bar Keepers friend.
