The post was inundated with almost 80 comments from fellow cleaning enthusiasts and the most common solution was to use men’s shaving foam.
Melissa Jordan said: “Men’s shaving foam. I use it on the toilet and the floor around the toilet.
Karla Taylor agreed and wrote: “I do this too it’s the only thing that works!”
Caroline Coe commented: “Spray shaving foam all around the toilet and floor then scrub. Gets rid of odours.”
Yvette Askwith posted: “It’s from the floor around the toilet. Get some shaving foam and scrub it around the area, leave for around 30 minutes then wipe and mop. Thank me later.”
Em Ahern-Kenny suggested: “Shaving cream rubbed all over and then after 15 minutes mop with boiling water.”

Other suggestions from Mrs Hinch fans included using an onion, biological soap powder, Zoflora and mouthwash.
Patricia Egan commented: “Get an onion and cut it in two and leave it in the bathroom and it will absorb the smell.”

Laura Gleeson O’Brien suggested: “Spray the area heavily around the toilet, floor and any walls nearby with Listerine original mouthwash leave for at least 24 hours then damp wipe.
