A new study by the experts a Power Sheds found that two in five Britons (39 percent) said a swimming pool would prevent them from making an offer on a home.
Despite being seen as a luxury by many, the experts said having a swimming pool could decrease a home’s value by £57,000.
A swimming pool can be a lot of maintenance, requiring regular cleaning and adding chemicals to ensure it is safe to use.
It also can’t be used all year round in the UK, proving not to be worth it for many house hunters.
According to the experts, all of these reasons make a swimming pool “not desirable” for many people.

Another garden feature many people didn’t like was artificial grass, a built-in trampoline as well as a sloping garden.
The experts said that having artificial grass in your garden could decrease your home’s value by almost £15,000 because some see it as unpractical.
Although an artificial lawn may seem like low maintenance, it offers no benefit to wildlife and can burn in extreme temperatures.
Britons also said they wouldn’t purchase a property with an outdoor sauna, and others said they wouldn’t like a home with a hot tub.

Instead, homeowners should focus on features which will add value to their homes, including installing a shed, planting trees, having nice paving and adding a pergola.
Britons also said they looked for a nice decking when they were looking for a home to buy as well as a built-in fire pit.
Property expert Martin McCreath, Your Move Estate Agents, said: “Gardens are very high on buyers’ list of priorities, with their presentation, size and position often considered very important when making the final decision to buy.
“It is so important you make it look as good as possible and catch a homebuyer’s attention quickly.”
Jack Sutcliffe, co-founder of Power Sheds, added: “House buyers are looking for a garden that looks good and is functional.
“A garden should be a place of relaxation and enjoyment and should be designed to meet the needs of the homeowner.
“A shed can be a great additional feature because it provides that extra storage space and can be used for a variety of purposes such as a workshop or hobby room, which can add value to the property.”
