Peppa Pig fans discover bizarre tribute to the Queen in recent game | The Sun

PEPPA Pig: World Adventures is the latest game based on kids TV show Peppa Pig.

However, one of the most bizarre parts of the game sees you explore London with the Queen, despite her passing last year.

World Adventures was released just a few weeks ago, several months after Her Majesty’s death.

The game, which takes place in different countries around the world, has one chapter set in London which heavily features Queen Elizabeth II.

In it the Pig family ring the doorbell at Buckingham Palace where the Queen lets them in telling them she is a fan of the show.

She then drives them on a double-decker bus around London, visiting Big Ben before jumping the bus over an open Tower Bridge.

Peppa and Her Majesty then end the day by going to Trafalgar Square and jumping in muddy puddles.

However, this isn’t what shocked fans of Peppa Pig, instead it was the In Memoriam screen which shows up after the end of the chapter.

Once you complete the game another screen shows up which says: “As we came to the end of development of Peppa Pig: World Adventures, on September 8, 2023, Her Majesty, Queen Elizabeth II, sadly passed away.

“To honour her legacy and the joy she brought to Peppa Pig fans across the world, we made the decision to keep The Queen in our game as a tribute to Her Majesty.

“We pay our deepest respects, and for being a source of joy to the many children across the world that she met on her adventures across the world we simply say thank you Ma’am.”

The London chapter was already complete at the time of the Queen’s passing and the studio had a “very quick discussion” about whether to keep it in or not.

In an interview with Eurogamer, lead producer David Moral explains how the other option was to “remove London and the Queen from the game.”

He goes on to explain that removing the chapter "would mean reducing content and reducing fun from the game.

“In the end, if the kids love it, that's all that matters, I suppose."

Of course, removing the chapter, or adding this bizarre In Memoriam were not the only two options available.

The Queen could have been replaced in the chapter by someone else, or the day out could have been changed to be more reserved.

There is also the option to replace London with a different location rather than removing content in an already short game.

It seems that World Adventures went with the cheapest and easiest option here, to keep the chapter as it is, and claim it is a tribute.
