Top 10 cheapest electric cars with the longest official ranges – including one for less than £30,000 | The Sun
THE cheapest electric cars with the longest ranges have been revealed and there are 10 to choose from under £40,000.
As many drivers have started to make the switch to electric, some are still deterred by the price and also anxious about the battery range.
But there are 10 electric vehicles now available in the UK that could be classed as more "affordable", and offer fully-charged battery ranges of between 239 and 300 miles.
A recent report by This is Money highlighted the EVs with the longest quoted ranges, many of which cost in excess of £100,000.
But there are some options available for £40,000 and under, which is an important price benchmark as it ensures owners will evade the Vehicle Excise Duty (VED) premium tax rates in Britain.
All new motors over the £40,000 price bracket have to pay the VED which means an extra £355 per year in car tax for the first five years at the standard rate.
