I’m fuming after being fined £100 for parking in a car park 200 miles away – their camera got the wrong plate! | The Sun
A DRIVER is fuming after being fined £100 for parking in a car park, despite being 200 miles away.
Dean Graham, 59, received a penalty notice from a car park in the north of the UK – while he was parked 200 miles away at London's Heathrow airport.
The 59-year-old had left his car at the Holiday In Express near the airport before flying out for a two-week break in Florida with his wife.
But on returning home, he was greeted with a penalty notice which said he spent an evening at the Oasis Health Club on Orwell Street in Grimsby.

The car park isn't owned or managed by Oasis. It's run by the parking firm Civil Enforcement.
They asked him to pay £100 – or £60 if paid within two weeks.

In their letter to Dean, Civil Enforcement claimed they had photographic evidence of his vehicle in the car park but did not send it with the notice.
However, it transpired the camera had made an error and misread the registration plate.
Fortunately, the notice has now been withdrawn as a result.
Speaking to Grimsby Live, Dean Graham, said: "How they've managed to do this is beyond me."

"I'm lucky because I've got receipts saying my car was at Heathrow at the time.
"But if my car was just sat in the drive at home, I would have no way of proving it was there."
A spokesperson from Civil Enforcement said: "Due to an error during the analysis process, one of the characters in the vehicle registration mark was misidentified, leading to the parking charge being issued to the incorrectly registered keeper.
"Had the registered keeper of the misidentified vehicle appealed the parking charge upon receipt, using our very simple online appeals portal detailed on the parking charge notice, the error would have been identified and the charge would have been immediately cancelled by our appeals team."
