Pippa Middleton, 39, the younger sister of Kate Middleton, and her investment banker husband James Matthews, 47, invested almost £15million in one of the country’s most stunning stately residences. The family will want the extra room as Pippa just gave birth to her third child, a daughter called Rose.
James and Pippa’s new home is about a 20-minute drive from Michael and Carole Middleton’s home in Bucklebury.
Pippa’s brother, James, bought a farmhouse in the county for £1.45million with his French wife, Alizee, last year.
Meanwhile, Prince William and Kate, who have three children, Prince George, nine, Princess Charlotte, seven, and Prince Louis, four, have moved to Adelaide Cottage on the Windsor royal estate.
Their children now all attend Lambrook School, a short distance walk from their new home.
The Georgian mansion that Pippa and her Eton-educated husband have bought underwent a multi-million-pound restoration by its previous owner.
It was not known that it was on the market and the sale is said to have been carried out privately.
The property reportedly has around 30 rooms, plus plenty of outdoor space for children to play with their royal cousins.
This includes around 150 acres of grounds that lead down to an impressive river. Pippa and the family will be able to grow produce in the huge walled garden and greenhouses.
In July, a removals lorry was seen parked outside the couple’s home in Chelsea, west London, which James, a former professional racing driver, bought for £17million in 2015.
It is currently not clear whether or not the family have kept their home in the capital, but it is a possibility seeing as many of Pippa’s events take place in London.
“Pippa and her family are thrilled,” a friend said. “It’s a very exciting time in their lives. They are looking forward to living closer to her parents,” they confirmed to the Daily Mail.
“It’s a far more impressive property than any of those on the Windsor estate, apart from the castle,” a local resident told the publication, which would include Adelaide Cottage.
Edinburgh University graduate Pippa married James, whose brother is reality television star Spencer Matthews, in 2017 in Bucklebury.
They now have three children, Arthur, three, Grace, one, and Rose, who was born in June 2022. James’s father, David Matthews, is Laird of Glen Affric, a 10,000-acre estate in Scotland.
His parents also own the Eden Rock resort on the island of St Barts in the Caribbean.
Therefore, one day James will inherit the Glen Affric estate, meaning Pippa will become a Lady.
Born in Reading and raised in Bucklebury, Berkshire, Pippa attended Marlborough College before graduating with a degree in English literature from the University of Edinburgh.
She worked at firms for public relations and event management before joining her parents’ party supply company.
Pippa began receiving media attention during her sister’s relationship with Prince William.
Her appearance at their wedding was subject to widespread coverage due to her incredible Alexander McQueen bridesmaid gown.
