Pornhub still full of 'deepfakes' celeb sex tapes of Emma Watson and Katy Perry despite 'ban'

PORNHUB is overflowing with phoney smut videos of a-listers like Emma Watson and Katy Perry despite vowing to delete the controversial clips.

At least 70 fake videos featuring the faces of real celebs superimposed on to the bodies of adult film actresses were found lurking on the saucy service, according to BuzzFeed.

The so-called "DeepFakes" are made using a free online porn app that uses artificial intelligence to perform the shady mug-swaps.

The videos first appeared on a seedy Reddit forum in January, and were almost always hosted by a San Francisco-based clip site called Gfycat.

They also inevitably made their way on to Pornhub – the world's leading adult website, which averages 100 billion views each month.

The videos featured a host of top actresses, including Jennifer Lawrence, Katy Perry, Cara Delevigne, and Game of Thrones teen stars Sophie Turner and Maisie Williams.

But both companies have since distanced themselves from the videos, and promised to scrub them off the web for good.

Their vehement opposition to the clips could be due to their illegal nature, as The Sun found out in February.

LSE Law Professor Andrew Murray told us: "To put the face of an identifiable person onto images of others and then sharing them publicly is a breach of Data Protection Law."

It was around that time that Pornhub declared it was banning the DeepFake videos.

But just days after its announcement, Mashable discovered around 48 of the clips on the service.

And since then Pornhub has been locked in a cat-and-mouse chase with the tricksters sharing the smut.

Policing the "YouTube of porn" isn't an easy task, and like Google's video platform Pornhub relies on its users to flag content for removal.

But, as BuzzFeed notes, there's no indication that the service is actively monitoring forgeries beyond the ones that visitors point out.

The videos are reportedly easy to find: all it takes is a quick search for "deep fake" or "fake deep" for dozens of results to pop up.

Most of the videos reportedly have hundreds of thousands of views, while one featuring Emma Watson attracted over 1 million eyeballs.

To make matters worse, Pornhub's algorithms (which customise the site to your kinks) have apparently been displaying the clips on its homepage.

Fraudsters are also using the site to link to external markets located in Russia where users can shop for DeepFakes.

"What we have for sale: 500 deep fakes and number is growing you can purchase them one by one or in one full pack with a big discount," one account read.

Pornhub has responded to the crisis with a generic statement indicating its general approach to content that breaks the rules.

"Content that is flagged on Pornhub that directly violates our Terms of Service is removed as soon as we are made aware of it; this includes non-consensual content,"said the company's vice president Corey Price.

"To further ensure the safety of all our fans, we officially took a hard stance against revenge porn, which we believe is a form of sexual assault, and introduced a submission form for the easy removal of non-consensual content."
