Mrs Hinch, real name Sophie Hinchliffe, often shares cleaning tips and tricks online. Rising to fame on Instagram, the social media sensation now has more than four million Instagram followers. Fans of the cleaning guru have taken to a dedicated Facebook page to share top tips on cleaning skirting boards with ease

Posting on the Mrs Hinch Cleaning Tips Facebook page, one group member asked for some skirting board cleaning advice.

Steph Dunham wrote: “Right so…skirting boards. At the moment I get on my hands and knees with a cloth and soapy water, but I am wondering if there is a better and easier way to clean them?”

Skirting boards can be hard to clean and extremely time consuming, but need to be cleaned regularly.

Dust floating around the home can settle and build up on skirting boards.

Dust includes tiny particles of debris and dead skin, which can make allergies worse.

Group members took to the comments to share their easy methods, including using a broom.

Sharon Brown commented: “I go round mine with a soft broom to get rid of dust before cleaning.”

Michelle Toohey said: “I use a mop when I’m doing the floors and I run the vacuum along them when I hoover.”

Other group members recommended using a Dishmatic, which is a dispensing fillable and refillable washing up tool.

Gemma Krelle explained: “I fill my Dishmatic with tenor to clean my skirting boards. I also do my windows, dishes, mirrors, windows and shower.”

Natasha Token wrote: “Never thought of doing that with my Dishmatic, absolutely fantastic idea.”

Other group members recommended using water and washing up liquid.

Tina Murray said: “Dishmatic is game-changing, it is super quick and means you don’t have to bend down and cause your back to hurt!

“Just fill it up, maybe get rid of the dust first and you’re good to go, it takes me less than 10 minutes to do the whole house.”

The Dishmatic can be picked up for as little at £1 and the sponge heads can be replaced when they need to be.

Anna Barrow wrote: “I use washing up liquid with warm water because fabric softener, although will make everywhere smell nice, can leave a nasty film on the skirting board, just to make everyone aware. Do what works for you though, it really is a good tool to clean in no time.”

Sophie Taylor explained: “I use the Pledge Duster, you can buy the Starter Kit from lots of supermarkets.

“It comes with a dusting brush which is on a handle as well as two disposable heads for when they get dirty, it works really well and I find it removes all the dust straight away.”

The multi-surface cleaning tool picks up dust, dirt and lint.

It is available from several retailers including B&M for as little as £3.
