We’ve all heard of the ‘big season sales’ which come and go throughout the year, but where should you be looking for the best value for money deals? Whether you need a new sofa or a vintage cabinet to complete your autumn interior, these are the best times to be hunting for those hot sale-steals to refresh your home and garden.

Furniture sales usually appear when new lines or styles appear ahead of a new season, giving retailers a push to clear that ‘so-last-season’ stock.

Beginnings and ends…

Heading down to your local furniture store or looking online for these pre- and post-season sales is the prime time to find good quality items for a lower price.

Most new season ranges tend to appear at the end of the winter and summer seasons – so think early spring and early Autumn.

Buying new furniture in February and July is not only ideal for your bank account, but is also a subtle way to change-up your old home and garden designs for something a bit different.

Shop local

We all love the convenience of online shopping but shopping local is an almost guaranteed way to save money on furniture pieces.

As independent stores, local furniture retailers don’t always follow market trends and offer regular discounts and deals as sale incentives throughout the year.

Plus, making your clearance items on-trend again is easy with the right pairings so don’t rule anything out when browsing the sales.

Time it right

Try and wait out your furniture cravings until the sales roll-around: higher consumer demand, means higher prices.

Different times of the year offer different discounts for a range of items, from garden furniture to office essentials – so try and time it right when looking to buy that new office chair or a new rattan sofa for the garden.

Spring for interior savings

Springtime is when home sales tend to peak, meaning furniture retailers want to help people furnish their homes quickly by offering deals and discounts on indoor furniture.

Avoid buying garden patio sets, barbecues and poolside furniture during the Spring as these are all in very high demand ahead of the summer.

Summertime sales for next season’s exterior

July is a slow month for furniture sales as people enjoy the Great British summertime out of the house.

This is prime time for discounted home-furniture as retailers attempt to lure in customers during the vacation – or rather, staycation season.

Take full advantage of heavily discounted prices by buying those autumnal interior items ahead of August when retailers release new lines.

As well as taking advantage of those interior sales, be sure to purchase discounted end-of-season furniture sets which will look perfect on your patio. You just may have to keep it in the garage for a while until summer comes around again.

Back to school sales

Last year the number of people working from home in the UK more than doubled due to the coronavirus pandemic, so the back to school sales are a welcome discount for those in need of an updated home-office.

Late August to early September is the time to be buying discounted office furniture by taking advantage of the student sales.

Summer furniture will continue to be discounted in Autumn as retailers attempt to clear our summer furniture ahead of the cold-British winter so get in there early to swipe those too-good-to-miss deals.

January sales

Perhaps the most popular of them all, the January sales are ideal for huge savings on a wide range of furniture.

From beds to mattresses to sofas, you’ll find most things in the January sales so take advantage and update your interior as part of your new year’s resolutions.
