General cleaning

For general upkeep of your sofa, and to remove crumbs, you’ll need your hoover and a dry brush.

Before removing your cushions, use a dry brush to free up any crumbs or dirt.

Then with your hoover on a low setting vacuum away any of the dirt or crumbs you have brushed free.

Another tip is to flip around the cushions regularly to stop them from looking worn.

Getting rid of smells

Over time and with constant usage our sofas may start to pick up bad smells.

To shift this all you will need is

  • Baking soda
  • Hoover

Firstly, using the above method, make sure there are no crumbs on your sofa’s surface.

Next, grab your baking soda and sprinkle it over the whole sofa.

Leave this to sit for at least 20 minutes.

Baking soda has odour absorbing properties and so will shift any bad smells with ease.

Once the time is up, use your hoover to get rid of the baking soda using a brush attachment.

Stain removal

If you’ve dropped some food, spilt a drink or even noticed a mystery stain on your fabric sofa, don’t fret!

You will need:

  • Washing-up liquid
  • White vinegar
  • Baking soda
  • Warm water

Mix a teaspoon of washing-up liquid, white vinegar, baking soda and warm water.

Stir to form a lather, with the solution frothing up as the baking soda and vinegar react with one another.

Spread on any stains on your sofa and then leave to dry out for around 10 minutes.

Once it is dry, wipe down with a clean cloth to lift away any residue and leave behind a fresh, stain-free sofa.
