There hardly needs to be an occasion to warrant a better night’s rest, but just in case you needed one, May is Better Sleep Month. To celebrate, we’re starting with a product that can seriously improve your shut-eye—a mattress. According to the Sleep Foundation, mattresses should be replaced every six to eight years, as they can significantly improve your sleep quality. Since May just so happens to be the best time to buy them (older models tend to go on sale around this time of year to make room for new ones), we’ve rounded up several of the best discounted mattresses from manufacturers such as Nectar, Tuft & Needle and others.

When is Better Sleep Month?
May is recognized as Better Sleep Month by The Better Sleep Council and other health organizations in order to encourage people to implement better sleeping habits. It’s a necessary effort since, according to the the American Sleep Association, between 50 and 70 million adults have a sleep disorder.
Luckily, multiple outlets are having exclusive savings events on mattresses, including some of our favorite mattresses-in-a-box. The Tuft & Needle Original, which we deemed the best bed-in-a-box of the bunch for being comfortable in various sleeping positions, starts at $450 and comes with up to $225 of free sleeping accessories. Nectar’s memory foam mattress, meanwhile, which also made our list for its marshmallow-like softness, currently comes with $299 to $399 worth of sleep goodies.
There’s plenty more plush picks to choose from this month, with no shortage of mattress makes, models and sizes, but we’ve done the legwork and narrowed down some of our top picks to help you get some shut-eye at the best prices possible. Check them out below!

While we haven’t reviewed these specific models, we did include the brand’s Green mattress (from $999) among our favorite beds for its ability to avoid retaining body heat and how unresponsive it was to any motion. The latex mattress, meanwhile, received praise from customers for being a biodegradable alternative to the typical bed. The vegan model also received glowing reviews from customers, with one reviewer praising it for having “enough bounce to give you free movement without causing a disturbance.”
