New Xbox app lets you play console games on your iPhone – how to set it up

MICROSOFT's new Xbox app lets users play their console games on their iPhone.

If you're an Xbox One user and you have an iPhone or iPad you can now stream Xbox games to those devices.

You need to make sure you've downloaded the new Xbox app from the App Store to take advantage of this remote play feature.

The new feature only connects to your console and not xCloud.

It will support Xbox One and Xbox Series X / S games but any games for older consoles cannot be streamed.

You can connect the app and your console over, WiFi, LTE or 5G.

Once connected you'll take over control of your Xbox and can even turn it on from outside the home.

You won't actually be able to see that the Xbox is in use and when you stop playing it will go back into standby mode.

The new app is said to be faster than the previous iOS version.

How to set up iOS Xbox app

Go to the App Store and download the app or make sure it's updated.

You'll need to be using iOS 10.3 or higher.

Make sure both your Xbox One and phone are online.

On the Xbox app click the three horizontal bars in the left hand corner.

This opens the menu.

Select "Console" and then "Connect to Your Xbox One".

You should then see the name of your Xbox pop up.

Click "Turn On" and then you should be good to go.

You'll then need a Bluetooth controller for your iPhone/iPad and to select the game you want to start playing on your phone.
