Can't name that song? Google will identify it just by your hum or whistle right now

GOOGLE has a great new feature that can help you remember the name of the song stuck in your head.

The ‘hum to search’ feature does exactly as its name describes and aims to give you a correct song name when you hum, whistle or sing into the Google app.

The feature can be used on the app on both iOS and Android devices.

It's also avaliable via Google Assistant if users tap the new “search a song” button or say "Hey Google, what’s the song” and then start humming.

When you've finished humming or half singing the words you do know, Google will then give you some options stating what the song could be.

The results are listed in order of how likely they are to be correct.

For example, Google may give you an example rated as having a 50% chance of being correct.

You can tap results to listen to them and hopefully you'll find what you've been searching for.

Google said that it uses machine learning to “transform the audio into a number-based sequence representing the song’s melody".

This sequence can then be paired against songs until a good match is found.

The feature is avaliable today on iOS in English.

It's also avaliable today on Android but in more than 20 languages.

There are plans to add more languages in the future.

In other news, the iPhone 12 goes on sale.

Facebook Messenger has got a new update.

And, Snapchat will finally let users add music to their snaps in a move that will see it rival TikTok and Instagram Reels.
