The disinfectant brand says it is vital to maintain a high level of hygiene in the bathroom.

It is more difficult to do so in a public toilet, especially touching things in a public toilet that have been touched by many other people.

If you do use a public toilet, Zoflora advises using a tissue or plastic glove to protect your hands from any surfaces you have to touch while in the bathroom. This should then be disposed of once you leave.

Also, try to avoid touching your face and use a hand sanitiser upon exist to ensure your hands remain clean.

Zoflora says: “Door handles are the first thing and last thing people touch when entering and exiting a bathroom. It’s a good idea to get in the habit of disinfectant bathroom surfaces after every use, especially if you’ve got guests using the toilet in your home.

“Ensure that the handle is disinfected on both sides, as well as the toilet lock if you have one. You may find it easier at home to leave a basket with a trigger spray of diluted Zoflora and some paper towels by the door so your guests can easily clean and throw away the used paper towels (although you will need to keep this out of the reach of children and pets if they are in the home.”

Toilet seat and handle

The cleaning experts said: “Make sure you thoroughly spray the seat and toilet flush handle and wipe clean. A trigger spray with diluted Zoflora is the perfect way to spray and go – then simply dispose of the tissue in the toilet or the bin.”

Bathroom bins

Bathroom bins can be a breeding ground for germs and bad odours, and Zoflora recommends cleaning and disinfecting the bathroom bin before using.

They say: “At home, soak a clean cloth in diluted Zoflora, adding 1 capful per 400mil of water, then use it to wipe down the whole bin, not forgetting the lid and surrounding areas inside and out.”

Toilet brush

Zoflora said: “Even more so than bins, toilet brushes and their holders are the ultimate germ hot spots when it comes to bathroom hygiene. These tools may form part of your regular cleaning kit, but don’t forget they need to be disinfected too!

“To ensure you kill the harmful bacteria which can live on the brush and in its holder, try soaking it in a bucket with 4 capfuls of your favourite Zoflora fragrance added to 1.5L of water. This will not only kill the bacteria but also restore fragrant freshness to your bathroom.”

Sink

Zoflora says: “Sinks, drains and plug holes can not only harbour harmful bacteria and viruses but also be responsible for bad odours. Using Zoflora regularly can eliminate germs and keep things smelling fresh.

“Pour 1 capful of Zoflora straight from the bottle down plug holes to kill unwanted germs and get rid of unpleasant smells. To disinfect the sink, run some warm water and add 1 capful of Zoflora for every 400ml of water. Soak a cloth in the diluted solution and wipe over the sink to eliminate bacteria and viruses.”

Bathroom taps

The cleaning experts said: “Because of what the sink is used for, bathroom taps see a lot of dirty hands over the course of an average day. This makes them a popular spot for bacteria to hide, so make sure to disinfect all parts of the tap regularly.

“To wipe clean, just dilute your choice of Zoflora disinfectant into some warm water, adding 1 capful for every 400ml of water in a trigger spray bottle. Spray and wipe the taps all over to keep them free-from 99.9% of bacteria and viruses.”

Bath

Zoflora said: “If you think about it, baths are basically like really big sinks – and they can be just as good at breeding germs. Bacteria thrive in warm, damp places, so it’s vital to ensure you hygienically clean the bath on a regular basis. A trigger spray filled with diluted Zoflora is the perfect way to tackle the tub.”

Tiled floor

The cleaning experts say: “You might be on the top of mopping, but even though the bathroom floors look clean, it could still be covered in hundreds and thousands of bacteria, especially around the toilet area.

“Using Zoflora when mopping floors will ensure any harmful germs are killed as well as leaving your bathroom with a lovely fragrant aroma.

Surfaces

Zoflora said: “When you’re busy taking on the toilet, sink and bins, it’s easy to overlook bathroom surfaces. And while they may look clean, they may be harbouring harmful germs.

“Simply wiping down surfaces with Zoflora can disinfect these areas and kill any harmful bacteria and viruses.”
