I’m furious after I was slapped with a £60 fine when I parked at Wilko for 20 mins to pick up my shopping – it’s crazy | The Sun
A MUM has been left furious after she was slapped with a £60 fine for parking at Wilko click and collect – despite using a designated space.
Charlotte Francesca, 35, was outraged when she was issued the fine after a trip to the store with her toddler in late August.
After entering the store, Charlotte, from Epsom, said she was told by staff to park her car at their collection point at the back of the premises.
The area comprised of a number of parking bays, which did not require payment, and were specifically for Wilko customers.
The mum added that after staff delivered her items to the car, she spent around 20 minutes in the parking space as she needed to look after her child.
Charlotte told Surrey Live: “It’s not like I went off and went shopping, I stayed in the car.

“I was very angry [when I received the letter]. I was genuinely disgusted, I hate parking companies.
"The hilarious thing was their evidence said the car park was for registered users only which was not true, I was parked in a designated Wilko bay.
“I’ll appeal just because it’s completely unfair and unreasonable. I’m not refusing to pay and walking away but they should not get away with it at all. A lot of people just get these tickets and pay them.
“The whole thing is a bit of a joke. I’ve been told [by Wilko staff] this has happened to other people.

"It’s just so basic, let people use the back and there's no issue, or don’t have that service so people won’t get tickets."
Charlotte also slammed Wilko's handling of her appeal, claiming that at one stage they gave the wrong name of the parking company involved.
Despite emailing proof that she had made a purchase to the store while parked in the space, her case was only still being looked into by the company.
She said she now wants her £60 fine to be cancelled immediately, and for Wilko to work with UK Parking Control, who manage the car park, to make sure a similar incident does not happen again.
“They need to stop it, it’s not fair. It’s just a pure money-making exercise,” she added.
