Sony bans PS4 game Senran Kagura over 'sexual interactions with underage girls' – but it's still coming to PC

SONY has blocked the release of a pervy PS4 game until the developer removes the "intimacy mode" that lets players spray and grope schoolgirls.

The game is distributed in the UK by PQube, who were also responsible for the schoolgirl-fondling dungeon crawler Omega Labyrinth Z.

Developer Xseed announced that the PlayStation 4 and PC releases of Senran Kagura Burst Re:Newal will be delayed while they modify the PS4 version.

The game, which features an anime art style and "buxom shinobi" is a 3D-action game where the player takes control of a squad of five ninja schoolgirls, several of whom are under 16.

As is not uncommon in such games from Japan, "the more they are damaged by enemies, the more their clothes are torn off," according to the game's wiki.

The changes involve the removal of the game's "Intimacy Mode", a regular feature of the series that lets players "spray down and grope" the girls, according to trade site Gamesindustry.biz.

The game had been rated PEGI 16 by Europrean ratings agency PEGI. But after Sony implemented what Tom Lipschultz, localization producer at Xseed said was "a brand new policy", the publisher was told changes had to be made – or the game would be blocked from release.

Replying to a fan asking about the change, Lipschultz added that while "the age of the characters doesn't help", he believes its the "interactivity in general that's the issue" and changing the girls' age wouldn't make "any difference".

Xseed merely confirmed in a statement that it was going to "respect the wishes of the platform holder," while confirming that a full uncensored version of the game would be coming to PC via the Steam store.
