Apple's new AirPods Pro earphones 'will DITCH iconic stems' in major design shakeup
THE next AirPods Pro might 'ditch' their stems and be smaller and more discrete, according to a new report.
The third generation of the base model AirPods are expected to come out this year and will likely have a shorter stem but the Pro could get rid of it altogether.
A new Bloomberg report has suggested that the next AirPods Pro range will bring a whole new design with them.
We might have to wait until next year to see them but experts have already suggested a smaller design.
This might make them look similar to the Samsung Galaxy Buds.
Bloomberg said it had heard about the matter from "people with knowledge of the matter".
Rumours of new, smaller AirPods in the works have been rumbling on for a while.
Sources told Bloomberg in December that Apple is preparing to update both versions of the AirPods.
Those are the £160 standard AirPods, introduced in 2016, as well as 2019's £250 AirPod Pros, which feature noise cancellation technology.
Apple could also bolster the battery life of the gadgets, and introduce new microchips to them, the report said.
As with all rumours and speculation, we'll have to wait for official word from Apple to know for sure.
The tech giant is also rumoured to be bringing out Beats Studio Buds with no stems.
