Our neighbours' selfish parking is driving us MAD… they never leave enough space and have no common sense – it’s a joke | The Sun

RESIDENTS left fuming over their neighbours' selfish parking have accused them of never leaving enough space and not having any common sense.

Images shared on social media showed a tiny gap left for passing motors on Clare Terrace, in Falmouth, Cornwall.

One image shows two vehicles parked over a speed jump, leaving a small gap in-between, with residents saying the problem is getting increasingly worse.

And locals have slammed motorists for not leaving space for an ordinary car let alone emergency vehicles.

Residents had previously told Cornwall Live that neighbouring Penryn was being plagued with dangerous and inconsiderate parking.

And others say that damage being caused to their cars left parked on the road is becoming all too common.

One disgruntled delivery driver said: "I was there the other week delivering and it's an absolute joke. They obviously have absolute no common sense.

"You watch them all cry when their cars get damaged by people getting though," said one person.

While another annoyed resident said that the cramped parking was a common sight.

They said: "Unfortunately this is like this all over Falmouth and Penryn. There’s just not enough space anywhere for all of the cars.

Watch as neighbour parks car outside my house as soon as my dad leaves

"I live on Oakfield Road and come night-time there are three to five cars, sometimes more, parked on the pavement outside my home.

"I’ve had to do this myself at times as there is nowhere to park all the way along Oakfield and Acacia Road.

"Thankfully there’s plenty of room for buses and emergency service vehicles to get through, and another pavement opposite that no one can park on thankfully. This is not going to get better, only worse."

Michael Doust, who took the images, said he reported it to the police who told him it is not an offence or causing an obstruction.

As a rule, the local council’s traffic enforcement officers deal with vehicles parked on double yellow lines or not abiding by parking rules.

If the vehicle is causing a danger or obstruction where it is located the police will assist, according to the Devon and Cornwall Police website.

One viewer could not believe the picture, calling it "plain crazy", "irresponsible" and "totally selfish".

And an emergency worker said: "A couple of weeks ago I drove along there in my ambulance and couldn't get past the inconsiderate parkers.

"I had to reverse back up the road and turn around and come in the other way. If you can't park up close to the wall, with your wheels straight and fold your mirror in then don't park there is my advice."

Another added: "This is my street and I have had so much damage done to my cars it’s unbelievable. The ‘wall’ side of the road seriously needs double yellow lines.

"We struggled to pass this morning in a Golf. In the last six months it's got so much worse."
