Shocking moment motorbike crashes into car as driver gives way to women walking across road – but who is in the right?
THIS is the shocking moment a motorbike crashed into a car as its driver gave way to some women walking across the road.
Simon Radford, 38, captured the crazy crash on his dashcam while waiting in line for a car wash in Lee-on-The-Solent, Portsmouth on Sunday.
His footage shows how the car paused to let two women cross the road at the entrance to the Broom Way petrol station.
Simon told The Sun: “I had my car parked up in the petrol station. I was just waiting to get it washed.
“The motorbike was travelling back from the sea to the town and the car was pulling in to get fuel or whatever.
“It’s pretty clear on the video that he was waiting for people to cross the road and then just went without looking.
“At the same time the motorbike came down the road and was struck by the car.

“It didn’t seem like the man was badly injured. He got back up straight away really and was talking but his bike was a bit trashed.
“The police came about 45 minutes later but I don’t believe there was any requirement for an ambulance.”
The crash comes just a month after major changes were made to the Highway Code.
One of the new rules states if a pedestrian is waiting to cross at a junction and a driver is turning, they must give way to the pedestrian.
Rule H2 of The Highway Code says: "At a junction you should give way to pedestrians crossing or waiting to cross a road into which or from which you are turning."

This also applies if vehicles are stuck in traffic or moving slowly – they must let pedestrians cross the road and rule 151 has been revised to reflect this.
This means the driver of the car did the right thing by letting the two women cross the road ahead of him.
However, he was wrong as he then pulled ahead without giving the motorbike the right of way.
'MADNESS'
The Highway code states drivers “must take extra care at junctions”.
It continues: “You should watch out for cyclists, motorcyclists and pedestrians including powered wheelchairs/mobility scooter users as they are not always easy to see.
“If they have started to cross they have priority, so give way.”
It adds: “Wait for a safe gap in the traffic before you move off.”
Simon says that from seeing the accident in person, he is sure of who is in the wrong.
He said: “I think the motorbike was completely in the right. The car just cut straight across him. It was 100 per cent the car's fault.

The Sun has approached Hampshire Police for comment.
What does the Highway Code say about turning right?
The Highway Code can be found online with all the road rules you need to know. It says before turning right you should:
- Use your mirrors to make sure you know the position and movement of traffic behind you
- Give a right-turn signal
- Take up a position just left of the middle of the road or in the space marked for traffic turning right
- Leave room for other vehicles to pass on the left, if possible
- Wait until there is a safe gap between you and any oncoming vehicle
- Watch out for cyclists, motorcyclists, pedestrians, and other road users
- Check your mirrors and blind spot again to make sure you are not being overtaken, then make the turn
- Do not cut the corner
