Mrs Hinch, real name Sophie Hinchcliffe, has built a huge fan base by sharing her cheap and simple cleaning hacks.

In fact, she has inspired many homeowners to create social media groups specifically to share tips.

How to defrost a freezer

A freezer should be defrosted when there is roughly a quarter of an inch of ice built up.

For some, this will happen once a year while others will need to do the job more regularly.

Posting in a Mrs Hinch Cleaning Tips Facebook group, one woman shared pictures from defrosting her freezer.

She explained that the task did not take her long to complete.

The caption said: “Don’t you just love ‘defrosting freezer day?’ Job done in 30 minutes!

“And I get to re-list everything that’s going back in. Happy days!”

The post gathered a number of comments as cleaning fanatics tried to figure out how she completed the task so quickly.

The Facebook user explained: “Ladies, for all of you that asked how it was so quick to defrost, use your hairdryer with a towel and a bowl on the bottom of your freezer. Honestly done in no time!”

Other homeowners were on hand to confirm using a hairdryer can get the job done in a flash.

One wrote: “Bowl of kettle water and hot towels shut the door for 20 mins, finish off with hairdryer.

“Food can be bagged up and kept at the back door especially in this weather then all cleaned and back in 60mins.”

“Use a hair dryer, it’s done in no time,” another added.

A third Facebook user said: “I have put a washing up bowl of hot water in the freezer before and closed the door and used a hair dryer. Done in no time.”
